The creative bond between sisters Mercedes and Franziska Welte began in their childhood. Their family laid the foundation by providing them with various art courses and a classical music education.
Exhibitions
Their first joint project was a series of photographs that Franziska developed together with Mercedes. These were exhibited in 2020 at the Stiftsmuseum Klosterneuburg under the theme “Was leid tut” (“What Causes Sorrow”). In the second year of their collaboration, the sisters visited New York, which was followed by worldwide exhibitions, art events, and more.
In 2018, they held their first museum exhibition. At Stift Klosterneuburg, the sisters created a light installation for the Leopoldsaal, depicting “Saint Agnes with her 18 Children.”
Venice Biennale
In 2019, they received an invitation to exhibit during the Venice Biennale at the Giardini della Marinaressa and Palazzo Mora. The sisters are now represented in galleries in Zurich, Mallorca, London, Gstaad, Miami, and New York.
